The Diplomatic of the Diocesan Historical Archives of Reggio Calabria-Bova, at the time of the declaration of considerable historical interest in 1997, consisted of 273 parchments. The work of reorganization and inventory of the archival collections allowed the discovery of 30 parchments and 64 briefs for a total of 367 units.
The fund, artificially constituted over time, includes documents from the dioceses of Reggio Calabria (1537-1963) and Bova (1495-1961) of a different nature: pontifical bubbles, royal bubbles, bishops’ bubbles, apostolic letters, oath formulas, notarial deeds that are part of various preserved archival funds: Curia, Bishops, Chapter, Canteen, Latin Communion, Parishes.
Since 2012, the Diplomatic Fund has been published on the Monasterium,net portal as part of the ENArC (European Network on Archival Cooperation) project, launched with the support of the European Union’s Culture Programme 2007-2013, in which the Department of Historical disciplines of the Federico II University of Naples, coordinated by Professor Antonella Ambrosio, is involved. As part of this project, Dr. Maria Rosaria Falcone took care of the start-up of the digital archive.
The curator of the archive is Dr. Maria Pia Mazzitelli, director of the Institute, the writing and computerisation of the registries and data related to the documents were carried out by Dr. Erika Gitto, archivist contracted by the Historical Archives of Reggio Calabria-Bova diocesan Historical Archives of Reggio Calabria-Bova, the photographic reproduction of the parchment was carried out by Ben van Rijswijk.
